Leading Creative Teams: Read Lorenzo's Story
Before joining magier, Lorenzo built his creative foundation in Rome, studying graphic design and later working across editorial, branding, and print design. After running his own studio in Italy, he sought new challenges — eventually landing in Berlin and joining magier. Today, he blends design expertise with leadership in a role that’s both creative and strategic.
How did your journey lead you to magier?
I studied graphic design in Rome for three years, focusing on branding, typography, UI/UX, and more. My first real experience came from an internship at Orecchia Acerbo, a publishing house with strong design roots, which sparked my love for print design.
Later, I worked in Bologna for an editorial design agency and then returned to Rome to open a design studio with two friends. We ran the studio for three years, working with lots of different clients, but over time, I felt the need for new challenges and international projects. That’s when I found magier. I moved to Berlin in early 2024 and was hired just a week after arriving.

What made you choose magier?
I was looking for a role where I could combine design with leadership — mentoring and guiding other designers. Magier seemed like the perfect fit because of the variety of projects and the chance to do both design and art direction.
Working with startups really appealed to me. Their projects are often experimental and fast-paced, which keeps things exciting. There’s a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of room for creativity and growth.
What does a typical day look like for you?
It starts with coffee or tea — depending on how hard the day looks! I check for new client tasks and feedback on work done overnight, since we work across time zones. Then we have a daily check-in with designers and PMs to assign tasks.
The rest of the day is a mix: I support designers, talk to clients, review work, give feedback, do some design myself when needed, and handle emails and calls. It’s a balance of creative work and team coordination.
How do you unwind after work?
Cooking is my number one passion. I love doing things with my hands, since our work is so digital. I also enjoy ceramics, drawing, and painting — though I haven’t painted as much since moving to Berlin. I don’t really do sports, but maybe one day I’ll give it a try with friends!
What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned since joining magier?
Definitely how to give better feedback to designers. It’s not just about imposing my own taste, but understanding each designer’s vision and helping them elevate it to meet the client’s needs.
Adapting to different workflows, time zones, and styles has also made me a more flexible and empathetic manager. Oh, and time management—working on multiple projects means staying organized is key.
How would you describe magier’s culture in three words?
Proactive, honest, and warm. From the start, I felt the kindness and respect in how we communicate. There’s a genuine sense of transparency, and despite being remote, we collaborate really well. Everyone shows up with energy and care.
Can you share a project you’re especially proud of?
Yes, definitely the work we did for Kertos. It was a full branding and website redesign, plus videos, and I was the main project manager. We had support from Sina and other designers — both internal and external — and the Webflow team. It was a big project, and seeing it all come together was incredibly rewarding. The client was really happy, which made it even better.
What advice would you give someone thinking of joining magier?
Be ready to communicate clearly and often. Remote work depends on it. Also, bring a spark — curiosity, creativity, and the desire to create work that stands out. We work with a lot of startups, and standing out matters.
At magier, we promise clients great design, and that takes not just skill but also energy and motivation to explore new ideas. So keep that creative drive alive!
If your morning coffee gave you a superpower, what would it be?
I’d love to open my fridge and find exactly the lunch I want — every day! But work-wise? Definitely reading clients' minds — or even better, speaking fluent German for a day. That would really help in Berlin but also for me to communicate with our German clients.
